Sou. Sushila Prithviraj Chavan Pratishthan (SSPCP- Educational and Cultural Center, Mumbai) which specialises in the Tanjavur style of Bharathanatyam and Indian Folk Dance, Founded by Ms.Tejaswini Prithviraj Chavan - Acharekar in 2007, dedicated this institution to her beloved mother “Sou.Sushila Prithviraj Chavan”. SSPCP - Educational and Cultural Center, Mumbai run by Sou. Sushila Prithviraj Chavan Pratishthan Trust and has an advisory board of senior artistes and well wishers supervising the artistic activities of the institution.

SSPCP - Educational and Cultural Center was launched as, an effort to preserve and propagate the long lasting Indian culture of folk as well as classical dance. The SSPCP- Educational and Cultural Center relies on the generosity of individuals, foundations and corporate to ensure that it can fulfill its mission to preserve and promote Indians performing art culture to all over the World. The Centre is progressing to run a full swing to give access to its students to perform, nurture and mould their creative minds.

What we are

Sou. Sushila Prithviraj Chavan Pratishthan (SSPCP – Edducational and Cultural centre, Mumbai) is a completely non-profit entity (80G certified) depending on the patronage of individuals and companies committed to the development of the performing arts.

The main aim of SSPCP - Educational and Cultural Center is to conduct a variety of training programmes for all age groups from any part of the country. The training provides a deep understanding, in-depth knowledge, aesthetics and inherent beauty of Bharatnatyam and Folk Dances of India.

SSPCP- Educational and Cultural Center aims to provide training to create awareness amongst students and teachers of their role in preservation of natural and Indian traditional culture in an attempt to provide an understanding and appreciation of different aspects of Indian art and Culture.

SSPCP is making a sincere effort to continue the inheritance of Indian Traditional Culture and encourage the research, documentation and develop work in performing arts.

We believe that dance is a divine art form that requires more than a lifetime to learn. And since every student is a unique and a have different caliber to understand and learn this art form, Tejaswini Tai believes in teaching with individual attention.

Progress of every student is determined by the student's own achievements. Achievements are assessed for every student regular classes through proper attendance, regularity in practice, sincere efforts to attain perfection in presentation, receptiveness in learning.

what we do

SSPCP aims to provide training to create awareness amongst students and teachers of their role in preservation of natural and Indian traditional culture in an attempt to provide an understanding and appreciation of different aspects of Indian art and Culture.

We conduct full time and part time Diploma and Degree course, workshops, seminars on Bharatnatyam. The courses of SSPCP- Educational and Cultural Center influenced by traditional classical and folk dance form of India for to develop deep study of mordent or Indian contemporary dance profession.

Classes

Regular classes:: are conducted twice a week with an hour's duration in batches. Though classes are scheduled in batches, every student gets individual attention and the advancement in training purely depends on each student's practice and hard work in day-to-day's performance.

We conduct the short-term certificate courses in Bharatnatyam and Indian Folk Dance.

Learning Online has fun now

The digitalization of the world, thanks to technological advancements of the 21st century has made it a small place. And learning online has become a new mode to obtain limitless knowledge any time anywhere.

We have designed these Courses in such a way that physical distance will not hinder the process of flawless and precise learning. The program has been custom-tailored keeping in mind the shortcomings of the online platform

Training

"GURUKULA" system is adhered in best possible ways, with close bonding between every student and Tejaswini Tai. We believe personal interaction of the student with our Tejaswini Tai in an appropriate atmosphere.

Students are given notes on dance to make their learning simple and effective.

Students appear for SSPCP - Educational and Cultural Center yearly exam and also Tilak Maharashtra Vidyapeeth, Pune exams.

We believe in creating dancers with good technique, imagination, grace, creativity, sensitivity and dedication.

We help our students to discover their inner rhythms of Dance.

Achievements

SSPCP - Educational and Cultural Center also provides free training for financially backward students on roll. We are arranging free Bharatnatyam dance class for BMC students.

Many programs are organised to keep student’s interest constant and also help them experience different dance styles of young because we believe watching is great learning.

ARANGETRAM

In Bharatanatyam Arangetram is an achievement in SSPCP – Educational and Cultural Centre, Mumbai. The Teachers panel selects the eligible students who have good caliber and ability for Arangetram. Students are awarded with a certificate of appreciation or the title, NRITHYA MARGASATHA, on completion of Arangetram. Arangetram is not considered a qualification here, but considered as the beginning of a life long journey in this art form.

We are arranging free performing arts Workshops and charity shows for Patients suffering from Cancer, TB, HIV.

SSPCP – Educational and Cultural Centre is conducting and guide various social & cultural programmes at national & international level, seminars and carnivals to spread the traditional value of Indian culture.

Anyone who is sincere to learn Bharatanatyam or Folk dance of India is welcome in the premises of our institute.

Founder & Director

Tejaswini is an eminent Bharatnatayam and Indian Folk dancer, learned Bharatnatyam under the guidance of Dr. Sandhya Purecha and Folk dance under the Late Shree. Ramesh Purav. Tejaswini has learned contemporary dance techniques from Terence Lewis Academy. Now she is perusing further Bharatanatyam study under Dr. Pallavi Naik. She is a dedicated professional with a passion for dancing and highly committed to continuous improvement and excellence in the field of dance.

Tejaswini has performed in National & Inernation stage and performed many Dance Festivals such as Mumbai Festival, Kalaghoda Festival, Saras Mohostav, Rangparampara Mohostav, Verul Mohostav, Zashi Festival, Lukhanow Festival ... and many more. She has written 'Jagar' column in Maharashra Times which was based on Folk form of Maharashtra. She also has worked as a Cultural Coordinator in Lok-kala Academy, Mumbai University for 3 years, As a cultural coordinator she has worked on documentaries films of Maharashtrian Folk form such as Jagaran, Gondhal, Dashavtar, Shabdavedha, Shahiri Powada and Bohada. Her 'Shabdavedha' folk thesis was published in a form of book by Nagpur Cultural Centre in the year 2008, and 'Gondhal' in the year 2016 and 'Bohada' in the year 2017 this two folk thesis was published in a form of book by West Zone Cultural Centre of India (WZCC)
